Tickets are not required, and there is no charge for this event.

This Christmas season will offer an opportunity for Sweetwater area residents as the combined choirs of First Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church will present performances of the musical work Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi. The concerts will feature the choirs under the direction of Music Ministers Jonathan Jones and Joshua Wright of First Baptist and Trinity Baptist respectively. They will be joined by an orchestra from Abilene as well as soloists Joy-Renee Blackstock and Camille Skye, both Sopranos of Abilene.
"This work has been popular since its conception in the early 18th century and it has become a staple work performed during the Christmas season," said Joshua Wright. "Vivaldi has set the Latin translation of the “Gloria” text in a multi-movement work for choir, soloist, and orchestra. The text itself is drawn in part from the song of the angels in the second chapter of the Gospel of Luke as they proclaimed the birth of Jesus Christ."
Performances for this inspiring work will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, and Sunday, Dec. 12, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church. Tickets are not required, and there is no charge for this event. "The choirs invite you to join in for this wonderful celebration of Christmas."
