City enters drought contingency plan

August 6, 2011

Based on recent water use trends combined with higher than normal water use projections, it is the recommendation of the City of Sweetwater's consulting engineers Enprotec/Hibbs & Todd, that the city enter into Stage 1 Drought Condition as described in the city's Drought Contingency Plan.
The city uses five stages of drought response in its Drought Contingency Plan with Stage 1 being least severe and least restrictive to system users.
During Stage 1, all customers are asked to curtail use of water for nonessential purposes on a voluntary basis. Stages 2-5 involve mandatory curtailment of water use and while being initiated in the future if necessary.
