Coach Boyd Lowry--February 15, 1924 – March 11, 2014

Stephenville — Coach Boyd Lowry, 90, principal, coach and teacher, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Lacy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Howard Martin officiating assisted by Bob Cervetto. Burial will follow at Erath Gardens of Memory Cemetery with military honors. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.
Coach Lowry was born on Feb. 15, 1924, to H.L. and Roxie (Young) Lowry. He married Joyce Marie Fields on August 14, 1954, in Fairy, Texas.
He was a principal, coach, teacher and driver’s education instructor. He enjoyed working with kids for over 31 years of his life. He was inducted into the six-man coaches association hall of fame in 2001. He was also a WWII Air Force veteran and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Lowry of Stephenville; daughter, Tracy Lowry of Stephenville; son, Clint Lowry of Blackwell; three grandchildren, Matthew Lowry, Cade Lowry and Michael Lowry; and brother in-law, John Fields and wife, Doris, of Whitney.
