Community groups supporting elderly in Sweetwater

August 2, 2013

Various community groups are doing their part to support and care for the elderly of Sweetwater.
According to Melissa Regalado with the Sweetwater Housing Authority, staff members from Sweetwater Healthcare recently made a visit to the Jack Lambert apartments. The group provided a hamburger lunch to the residents, complete with fixings and side dishes.
In addition, Sweetwater Healthcare performed blood pressure checks as well as balance tests. Staff members from Sweetwater Healthcare who participated were Lana McCain, Carl Mosk, Rudy Lopez, Lucy Webb, Diane Griffith, Ester Paquin, Debi Cory, Brandi Howard, and administrator Leslie Lane.
"It's really great that they came and did that," expressed Regalado.
But this isn't the first time that the community has come together to show their care. In the past several years, the Sweetwater Jaycees have provided some of the elderly residents at the Jack Lambert apartments with a home-cooked meal on Thanksgiving Day.
And looking ahead, the First United Methodist Church in Sweetwater will be making a trip soon to the apartments to provide a meal to the Jack Lambert residents.
Regalado is very appreciative to those who have already shown support to the residents. In the meantime, she stated that any local group that would like to donate their time and/or resources to the residents are welcome to give her a call at 235-1764.
The Sweetwater Housing Authority is also accepting applications for low-income elderly and disabled residents, as well as housing for low-income families at this time.
