Services for Cornelio H. DeLaCerda, 83, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014. Rev. Francisco Ortega will officiate and cremation will follow the services under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be recited by Victor Rubio at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
DeLaCerda died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at his residence.
Cornelio was born April 29, 1930, in Houston. He married Manuela DeLeon in Matamors, Mexico in 1972. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He lived in Sweetwater the past 38 years and was a master carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Manuela DeLaCerda of Sweetwater; sons, Jimmy DeLaCerda and wife Yolanda of Houston and Cornelio DeLaCerda of Sweetwater; daughters, Gloria DeLaCerda of Houston, Olga DeLaCerda of Houston, Jo Ann DeLaCerda of Austin, Epifania DeLaCerda of Big Spring, Roberta DeLaCerda of Austin and Janie DeLaCerda Garcia of Sweetwater; 19 grandchildren including Victor A. Garcia and Sandra Garcia of Sweetwater and Lisa Mesia and husband Larry of Houston; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Cornelio DeLaCerda, Jr.; and a daughter, Rosa DeLaCerda.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
