County, city amend agreement on Hunter Well Field

July 25, 2013

A couple of action items were presented during the afternoon portion of the Nolan County Commissioners meeting held Monday at the Nolan County Courthouse.
Approval was given to enter into an amended interlocal agreement with the City of Sweetwater for easement on the Hunter Well Field. Sweetwater City Manager Eddie Brown was in attendance to make the presentation.
The city wants to develop the Hunter Well Field, which is located west of the Champion Well Field. By amending the agreement to include the easement, the Hunter Well Field could be developed and connected to the already-existing line.
Also, this action would help the city expedite the loan grant process with the Texas Water Development Board toward a possible $2 million grant.
In addition, the commissioners approved the renewal for TAC-HEBP (Texas Association of Counties - Health and Employee Benefit Pool) group health insurance for the 2013-2014 fiscal year.
While a review of the increases and decreases was noted, it was also stated that the insurance is already in compliance with the Affordable Care Act, which is more commonly known as "Obamacare".
The federal government's overhaul on health insurance will go into effect on January 1, 2014, and all county employees will be notified that all of their family members/dependents need to be covered through their health insurance.
