The Nolan County Commissioners met on Monday morning, in which approval was given for the County Treasurer to upgrade and purchase a new computer for her office.
The original intention was to upgrade the current computer to Windows 7, but due to the fact that the computer is seven years old and has a CD drive that does not work, it was recommended that the computer be replaced. The system currently used in the office, Windows XP, will soon become obsolete.
Additionally, the office is in the process of acquiring new software. A quote obtained from Your Way Computers came in around $1,400 for a new computer.
Also during the meeting, the tax abatement guidelines and criteria for the next two years were approved, which was noted as being similar to the previous guidelines and needed to be renewed. As a result, the ten-year tax abatement agreement with Buzzi Unicem in Maryneal--in which the company is currently working on a $225 million expansion project--was approved as well.
Furthermore, the reappointment of Jo Henderson to the Nolan County Pioneer Museum board was approved, while the burn ban for Nolan County was approved to be left off until the next court meeting date. The minutes of the December 9 meeting were approved, and reports were received from the Nolan County Auditor, Treasurer, Clerk and welfare and sheriff's offices.
