The Nolan County Commissioners gathered for their meeting on Monday morning, in which approval was given toward a modification to the contract for the work on the roof for the Nolan County Coliseum.
Details were outlined in the contract, in which the roofer was asked to do more work than what was originally bid on in order to be a more secure roof.
Also during the meeting, the Nolan County travel expense policy was approved. Although some discussion was held on possibly amending the prohibition of out-of-state travel and expenses unless the commissioners' court offered approval in advance, no action was taken, thus the policy saw no changes.
In addition, the requested audit of forfeiture funds for the District Attorney's office was approved. And pending the approval from Sheriff David Warren, the requested audit of forfeiture funds for the Nolan County Sheriff's Office was approved as well.
The commissioners also gave approval to fund the DARE program for the 2013/2014 fiscal year by transferring $1,000 from the sheriff's forfeiture funds to the DARE account for the rest of the school year.
The program was previously funded through a grant and then through an account, in which both sources eventually became depleted. Current funding for DARE comes in part through parents as well as funds raised from the DARE Shoot, which cover the costs for travel and office-type supplies. Future funding for the DARE program will be discussed during next year's budget hearings.
Furthermore, a proclamation in support of 2013 Home Care and Hospice Month was approved, while approval was also given to leave the burn ban for Nolan County off until the next appointed court date. The minutes for the Oct. 14 meeting were approved, and reports were received from the Nolan County Tax Office along from the county treasurer/auditor.
