Nolan County continues to move forward with the process of applying for a grant from TxDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) for county roads damaged by the exploration, development or production of oil or gas, as some discussion was held at Monday morning's county commissioners meeting.
The supplemental road report from Precinct 4 was received and approved, which cited two additional roads which were already listed on the project list. Brief dialogue was also exchanged on possible county energy transportation reinvestment zones.
It was noted that a meeting will be held this week on the possibility of extending the February 14 timeline, which was requested by seven state senators. However, regardless of the meeting's outcome, the county will still work toward completing the application as soon as possible.
Also during the meeting, the annual audit report was presented by Michelle Beaty with Davis Kinard and Company. A copy of the report was presented to the commissioners and a brief review was given, which cited a good year for the county and a clean opinion for the report.
In addition, approval was given for the burn ban for Nolan County to remain in effect, and a $1,000 bond for Stanley Morris, Nolan County Surveyor, was approved as well. The minutes of the January 13 and 21 meetings were additionally approved, while reports were received from the Nolan County Clerk, Tax Office and Veterans Service Office.
