Crash claims two lives, three injured
Two people died and three were injured in a one-vehicle rollover at around 12:45 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012, in Sweetwater. A traditional weekly family outing turned tragic when Kimberly Troutz Guynn was driving a 2005 GMC Suburban east bound on Interstate 20 mile marker 240 west of Sweetwater. Guynn was following another family vehicle when she began exiting the interstate and then abruptly swerved to re-enter the interstate. The driver over corrected to the left and the vehicle overturned. There were four generations of family in this vehicle. Killed in the crash were Ronnie Harmon Troutz, 65, of Odessa and Kaysie Amber Guynn, 28, of Odessa. Troutz was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:40 p.m. by Judge Tim Fambrough. His body was taken to McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater. He was wearing a seat belt in the front passenger seat, The next of kin have been notified. Guynn was pronounced dead at 1:44 p.m. at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital by Doctor Morider. Her body was taken to McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater. Guynn was ejected from the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt in the back seat. The next of kin have been notified. Injured were Kimberly Troutz Guynn (driver), 57, of Odessa, Ethan Guynn, 6, of Odessa and Meta Troutz, 86, of Odessa. Kimberly was treated and released from Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater. She was wearing a seat belt in the front driver's seat. Ethan was flown to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. The child safety seat was worn in the back seat. Meta was flown to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Her seat belt was not worn in the back seat. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry.
