Dennis Thompson

Dennis Earl Thompson, 55, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away Monday, November 8, 2010 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital, in Sweetwater. He was born on January 18, 1955, in Bryan, Texas. He married Paula Garrett on March 23, 1992 in Sweetwater.
Dennis lived in Sweetwater for over 40 years. He was retired from Coca Cola after five years where he was a marketing coordinator. He had also worked at Rolling Plains Compress and Mahaffey Construction Company. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife Paula Thompson of Sweetwater; two sons, Lamont Thompson and wife Irene of Sweetwater; Marcus Garrett of Sweetwater; three daughters, Marisa Cotton and husband Gary of Irving, Texas; Chanelle Griffin and husband James of Sweetwater; Tashayla Lawrence and husband Kenneth of Lubbock; one brother, James Thompson of Roby, Texas; nineteen grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and half-sister Marcie Said of California.
He was preceded in death by a son Roderick Thompson and his parents James and Rosie Thompson and Mildred Thompson and Rosie Hall; two sisters: Katie Houston and Betty Moreland and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Services will be at McCoy Chapel of Memories on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 2 p.m.. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Wake visitation will be Friday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., at McCoy Chapel. Pallbearers are Danny “Lobo” Johnson, Wayne “Sly” Amos, Jackie “Ace” Moore, Bill “True Blue” Wilson, Johnny “Kool” McCoy and A.D. Davis.
Services are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home, in Sweetwater.
