Devon donates to SFD

July 17, 2014

Devon Energy Corporation recently made a donation of $1,000 to the Sweetwater Fire Department.  The letter attached to the check reads in part, “Devon Energy Corporation is committed to demonstrating its desire to be a good corporate citizen socially, environmentally and culturally through contributions which enhance the quality of life and meet community needs. In support of this philosophy we are proud to enclose $1,000 as a contribution to the City of Sweetwater Fire Department.”
The check will be put into the city general fund and help cover expenses associated with the fire department such as purchasing protective equipment, firefighting supplies and to meet other needs.
“We would like to thank Devon for the donation.  With the rising cost of having a fire department, we can use all the help we can get. It will be put to good use," said Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden.
