Diabetic Outreach Program to offer blood sugar checks
November is American Diabetes Month, and to acknowledge this the Diabetic Outreach Program at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital will be at the health department on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 8 a.m. until noon to do free check blood glucose and answer any questions you may have regarding diabetes. Pamphlets and materials will be available.The health department will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29 for the Thanksgiving holidays. Immunization clinic is cancelled for Wednesday, Nov. 27. Regular hours for immunizations will resume on Wednesday, Dec. 4.The immunization clinic is held every Wednesday from 8-11:30 a.m. and 1-4:30 p.m. and the second Wednesday of each month until 6 p.m. The health department is administering the flu vaccine during regular immunization clinic. The cost is $20. Medicare Part B accepted. The cost is $6 for children (6 months to 18 years) who do not have private insurance though the Vaccine for Children Program. Medicaid and CHIP accepted.Family Planning services are available through several funding sources. Services include pap smears, breast exams, pregnancy testing and methods of birth control and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases.
