The Sweetwater Junior League (ages 13-14) Astros competed in a District 5 tournament last week and finished as runnerups after losing 8-6 to Snyder in Monday’s title game.
The team was treated to a hamburger supper by the Sweetwater Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 2479 after their game Monday. Members of the team posed for a picture prior to the game with Lionel Mendez (standing far right) of VFW 2479.
This year’s team included coaches Danny Escobar and Edward Ruiz and players Branson Guelker, Joe Ruiz, Max Gomez, Cory Mendez, John Clift, Rocky Perez, Hardy Escobar, Junior Lawhon, Colter Reed, J’Corey Amos, Isaiah Aguilar, Kenneth McCann, Zach Hester and Hunter Mobley.
