District competition starts heating up for SHS squads

District play begins for Sweetwater High School athletes

The all-important district season starts today for the Sweetwater High School girls golf team when it plays the first leg of its tournam-ent at Wylie.
The final two legs of the 54-hole event will be played April 2 at Big Spring and April 9 at Brownwood.
The SHS boys golf team begins district play when it plays the first leg of its tournament Thursday in Snyder. Sweetwater hosts the second leg on April 3, and the final leg will be on April 10 at Wylie.
The SHS baseball and softball teams continue dis-trict play today when they go to Brownwood for games at 6:30 p.m. The Mustang baseball team comes in 0-1 in district, while Brownwood is 1-0. Wylie leads at 2-0, while Big Spring is 1-1 and Snyder is 0-2.
Sweetwater’s road swing continues Friday when it goes to Snyder for a 7 p.m. game, followed by games next week at both Big Spring and Wylie. The next home game isn’t until April 13.
The SHS softball team, which is 1-1 in district while Brownwood is 2-0, follows the same path. After going to Snyder (2-1) on Friday, the team is at Big Spring (1-2) and Wylie (0-2) next week to end its road trip.
Both teams are coming off wins. The Lady Mustangs beat Wylie 8-6 this past week, while the Mustangs topped Odessa High 4-2.
