Funeral services for Dorothy Ann "Granny" Heath, 71, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Awake and visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
Heath died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.
She was born July 14, 1939, in Rotan, Texas to Willie Heath and Florene Allen Heath. She was reared in Rotan and became an excellent basketball player at an early age on through high school. She moved to Sweetwater, Texas in 1958 and raised her family. She worked at Walls Factory and 76 Truck Stop for several years while raising her family. She married McKinly Walker in 1962, in Sweetwater. He preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Among her survivors include special friend, Andrew Staton of Sweetwater; seven daughters, Hazel Heath Pimpton and husband Garylen of Sweetwater, Peta McCoy and husband Jamie of Sweetwater, Tina Gaskin and husband Gerald of Houston, Bennie Walker and husband Charles of Sweetwater, Kayla Walker of Sweetwater, Shawn Walker and husband Toni of Sweetwater and Katrina Walker and husband Mark of Cisco; two sons, Kenneth Walker and Bobby Walker, both of Sweetwater; three sisters, Betty Amerson and husband Floyd of Houston, Jean and Patsy, both of Dallas; one brother, Ronnie of Dallas; 36 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Michael McCoy, Tarran McCoy, Kimu Jack, Brook Walker, B.J. Walker and Ezra Heath.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Carey, Jr., Jeremy Hernandez and Charles Thompson.
