Funeral service for Dorothy Velta Huffstutler, 68, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2012, at Faith Harvest Pentecostal Church with Rev. Jimmy Don Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Huffstutler died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, in Abilene.
She was born September 27, 1943, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She married Wesley Milton Huffstutler on March 25, 1961 in Sweetwater. Dorothy was a member of Faith Harvest Pentecostal Church and had lived in Sweetwater most of her life. She worked as a waitress and a store clerk for many years. She had worked for Stars Drive-In and the Lawrence Family in their stores here in Sweetwater. She and Wes were in the restaurant business in Fort Worth in the 1980s and they also had Modern RV in Sweetwater for a few years.
Survivors include her sons, Mike Huffstutler and wife Shona of Merkel, David Huffstutler of Longview, and Jerry Huffstutler and wife Donna of Longview; daughter, Debra Thomas and husband David of Snyder; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; mother, Euvelta McLaughlin of Salem, New Mexico; sister, Karen Brogan of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brothers, Bill McLaughlin of Salem, New Mexico and Ronald McLaughlin of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley M. Huffstutler, on July 6, 2011; and her father, Ralph Walker.
