Driving course offered to teachers, personnel

AARP Driver Safety Program is giving a special offer to all teachers and personnel employed by the school system, as well as all who are retired, to take the Driver Safety Course for $5. The course is good for three years and those who complete the course could get up to 10% off on car insurance. Call your insurance agent for information as to how much you could save. Sweetwater Independent School District is sponsoring the classes which will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the Sweetwater High School. The building is located at the corner of Crane and 12th Street. This is a four hour class. The morning class will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the evening class will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m. with an hour off for dinner and return from 7:30-9:30 p.m. A certificate will be given which is good for three years. The course is especially good for seniors 50 and over and covers all aspects of driver safety as well as new laws, medical conditions, etc. Participants will learn proven safety strategies to help maintain confidence behind the wheel. The course is regularly $12 for members of AARP and $14 for non-members. A certified instructor will teach the course.
