Trent — Dwayne Watson, 79, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, in a local hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, at the Trent First Baptist Church with Reverend Ronnie Freeman officiating. Burial will be in the Newman Cemetery in Fisher County, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home. Visitation was from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Dwayne was born Jan. 3, 1933, at Newman to William Harold “Bill” and Sallie Belle (Ford) Watson. He was a member of the Trent First Baptist Church. Dwayne was a wheat farmer/rancher who raised cattle. He also worked in the oilfield many years as a tool pusher, driller and retired from Safari Drilling as a drilling superintendent. He then owned a convenient store ‘Dwayne’s Foods’ in Trent for 15 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a board member of the Newman Cemetery Association.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Lois Watson of Merkel; two daughters, Pat Stephens and husband Wade of Cross Plains and Peggy Grimes of Abilene; five grandchildren, Janeal Yancey of Alabam, AR, Kelan Grimes of Beeville, Erin Stephens of Abilene, Kyndel Grimes of Waco and Garrett Stephens of Cross Plains; and two great-grandchildren, Vallie Yancey and Stormy Stephens.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold; and a great-granddaughter, Kieleigh Stephens.
