Educational Diagnosticians’ Week is Mar. 4-8
At the beginning of last month, Texas Governor Rick Perry said that a week should be set aside each year during the month of March to highlight the contributions of a particular field of educators. As a result, March 4 through 8 has been proclaimed as Educational Diagnosticians' Week in Texas."I urge all Texans to recognize the important efforts of educational diagnosticians," Governor Perry stated in the proclamation. "Their hard work contributes to the success of our young Texans and to the future of the Lone Star State."The document outlines the responsibilities of an educational diagnostician, in which they "use academic and psychological tests to isolate factors that could enhance students' performance in the classroom" through specialized training. The results then allow for teaching strategies, methods and materials to be developed and recommended by the educators, which lead to knowledge and fundamental skills for the students to have lifelong success. For young Texans' future, Perry stressed that a successful and comprehensive education is important. While he recognizes that some students can navigate smoothly through education, others cannot."For many others, additional or specialized instruction is necessary for maximum success. When this happens, educational diagnosticians play a vital role."
