EFC sending mission team to Haiti

April 1, 2011

On January 12, 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the nation of Haiti, killing thousands of men, women and children and leaving more than 3 million lives in need of immediate assistance. Many children have lost their parents. Families are torn apart. A city of over 1 million is left in shambles. Though a year has come and gone since the incident, relief work is far from over. Many homes remain piles of rubble. Hundreds of thousands of families live in tents made of tarp and scrap metal. Food is still scarce, jobs are even more difficult to find, and there doesn’t seem to be any way out. The Haitian people need the hope and encouragement that can only be found in Jesus Christ.
This summer, July 8-14, a mixed team of adults and high school students from Emmanuel Fellowship Church will be going to Haiti to assist in bringing the love of God to this physically and spiritually devastated country. During this life changing week the team will be ministering to the Haitian people through orphanage visits, prayer walks, relational evangelism, home visits, tent city visits, sports outreach, rubble removal, medical clinics, vacation bible school, Bible studies, church services and food distribution.
If you are interested in helping the EFC mission team reach their destination, the group will be having a church garage sale Saturday, April 2, at 8 a.m. in the parking lot of Emmanuel Fellowship. You can also log on to the church’s youth website at www.efcyouth.com where you can make a direct donation on the site's mission page.
"Our greatest need in addition to the funds necessary to pull a trip like this off is the prayer support of our community," said Eric von Atzigen, pastor of Emmanuel Fellowship Church. "Please join us in praying for safety and for divine appointments as we meet those that are desperate for a touch of God’s love.
