Elizabeth “Libby” Sylvest

Memorial graveside services for Elizabeth “Libby” Sylvest, 86, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Rev. Brian Brownlow will officiate and interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Sylvest died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 at Abilene Regional Hospital.
She was born July 12, 1927 in Clarksville, TN. She married Robert Ray Sylvest on Oct. 31, 1946, in Franklinton, LA.
Libby was a member of First United Methodist Church. She had lived in Sweetwater since 1950. She had worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Zane Jones for 12 years. She had taught dental assisting at TSTC for 10 years prior to that. She was very active in her church teaching the Lydia Sunday School class and always helping with other projects. She also enjoyed her volunteer work at school helping children with their reading.
Survivors include her son, Russell Sylvest of Sweetwater, and daughter-in-law, Sharon Sylvest of Sweetwater; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ray Sylvest on Nov. 24, 2003.
