Graveside services for Emily Jeanette Whittington Boyer, 84, of Sweetwater, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Roscoe Cemetery. Bishop Joel Davenport will officiate with interment to follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at McCoy Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Boyer died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Tullahoma, TN.
She was born Aug. 18, 1928 in Roscoe, TX. She married Maurice Oliver “Goldie” Boyer on June 11, 1952 in Sweetwater. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She owned and operated 12th St. Grocery for about 17 years. She grew up in and lived most of her life in Sweetwater.
Survivors include her son, Thomas “Butch” Boyer of Jacksonville, FL; daughters, Janice Lynn Bingham & husband Dennis of Idaho Falls, ID, Linda Joy Vellinga of Payson, UT, Jo Liane Davenport & husband Joel of Tullahoma, TN, and Donna Maurine Boyer of Grand Prairie, TX; brother, Earl Whittington; 18 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry V. and Zetta (Babb) Whittington; her husband, Maurice Oliver “Goldie” Boyer on Dec. 9, 1992; brothers, Larry Mack Whittington and Enoch A. Whittington; sisters, Ora Mae Whittington, Eula Beatrice Boyd Folsom, and Elnor R. King.
Pallbearers will be Joel Davenport, Dennis Bingham, Thomas Boyer, Michael Schlueter, Bob Boyd, and Perry King.
