Emily Ann (Mitchell) Rogers, 65, of Midland and formerly of the Trent-Merkel area, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011.
She was cremated. Memorial services are to be held at noon on Saturday, Feb. 12, at Trent First Baptist Church.
Emily was born in Merkel. She lived most of her childhood and part of her adult life in the Trent-Merkel area. She worked hard all her life. She had many talents, including making ceramics, writing poetry, drawing and gardening. Her best talent was smiling. One of her sweet smiles could warm you when you were cold, make you happy when you were sad.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Lizzy Mitchell; two sisters, Bettye Mitchell Symmons and Bonnie Mitchell Caldwell; and one son, Michael Lynn Rogers.
Survivors include son, Danny Rogers; daughter, Laura Farqahar and husband Jimmy; two extra special friends, Larry Rogers and Kathy Williamson, all of Midland; her oldest daughter, Brenda Rogers and Malcolm of Sweetwater; brother, Henry Mitchell and wife Penny; sister, La Verne Deen and husband Dale of Trent; sister, Wanda Baker and husband Clarence of Levita; brother, Lonnie Mitchell and Caroline of Anson; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
