Emmanuel Fellowship is excited to celebrate the 10 year ministry anniversary of Eric and Mindy von Atzigen in Sweetwater, Texas. Over the past decade, Eric and Mindy have poured their hearts into our church family and community and we were pleased to honor them this past weekend with a banquet at Texas State Technical College. We were also pleased to welcome Dr. Morris Sheats as our guest speaker this past Sunday in both of our morning services as part of our anniversary celebration.
Dr. Sheats has been in ministry for over 50 years. He was the Pastor of Trinity Church in Lubbock, Texas from 1964-1978. From 100 people the church grew to 4,000.
From 1978-1980, he was Senior Pastor at Beverly Hills Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, with a membership of over 6,000 people. Dr. Sheats then founded Leadership Institute, taking his vast experience in leadership training to pastors and churches worldwide.
From 1980-1984, as President of Leadership Institute, he taught and trained church leaders throughout the United States – as well as Kenya, England, Italy, Japan, Peru, Thailand, Korea, Ghana, Indonesia, Uganda, India and Canada.
In 1984 Pastor Sheats founded Hillcrest Church with 25 people, meeting at the Biblical Arts Center in Dallas. The church grew to over 5,000 members and attendees. For the last several years Dr. Sheats, through Leadership Institute, has once again been actively involved with preaching, teaching and training leaders all over the world.
To culminate the von Atzigen’s anniversary celebration, EFC also held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new church bookstore, “Growth Central.” The bookstore will be open to the public Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings and will be an excellent source for quality Christian resources. The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Sunday, Aug. 12 at 10:30 a.m.
The Sunday morning worship times for Emmanuel Fellowship Church are 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Both morning services are filled with the same warm fellowship, dynamic worship and life-giving messages, as well as top-notch children’s ministry and nursery care for children up to fifth grade. We invite you to come and experience the life, love and joy of Emmanuel Fellowship Church. For more information about the ministry of EFC, log onto the church website at www.efcsweetwater.com.
