Sweetwater ISD is preparing for summer school and student remediation, as noted during the Superintendent's report during the May meeting of the SISD Board of Trustees.
Results from the STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) test were received last week following last Monday night's meeting. With summer school starting on June 9, students will have a few weeks to prepare before the retests that are scheduled toward the end of June, while end-of-course retests for students will be held the second week of July.
The report also included an update on tax collections. The M&O (Maintenance and Operations) stands at 96.23%, or $7,316,788.48, while the I&S (Interest and Sinking) stands at 96.31%, or $868,381.
Enrollment numbers for the district came in at 2,176 students as of May 14--an increase of 90 students to the district since the first day of classes. Totals are currently being used to assist in planning for the upcoming school year.
Board members were also informed about their involvement at the graduation ceremony, which will begin at 8 p.m. at the Mustang Bowl on Friday, May 31.
Looking ahead, the board will attend the Summer Leadership Institute in mid-June. Prior to the board training, the monthly board meeting will be held on Thursday, June 12.
