Holy Mass of Christian Burial for Esperanza Torres, 85, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Father Charles Okonkwa will officiate and interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be said on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at 7 p.m. at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
Torres died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 7, 1927, in Sonora, Texas. She married John G. Torres in Sweetwater in 1954. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She loved to cook and dance. She worked for Walls for 25 years.
Survivors include her daughters, Elsa Gomes of Sweetwater and Margaret Gonzales; sons, Eddie Torres and wife Martha of Amarillo and Hector Torres and wife Eva of Sweetwater; grandchildren, Tony Palma of Sweetwater, Jonathan Gomez of Kennedy, Texas, Rosemary Alvarado of Chicago, Illinois, Eddie Torres, Jr. of Sweetwater, Misty Torres of Sweetwater, Hector Torres, Jr. of Fort Worth, Kristin Torres of Fort Worth, Kacy Torres of Beeville, Texas, Santiago Torres of Beeville, Victor Gonzales of Sweetwater, Genaro Gonzales of Sweetwater, Jonathan Gonzales of Sweetwater, Sergio Gonzales of Sweetwater, Slayde Palma of Sweetwater; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Odela Gomez; brother, Joe Virgen; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Torres, Hector Torres, Tony Palma, Henry DeLacruz, Joe Gonzales and Eddie Gomez.
