SAN ANGELO — A pair of former Sweetwater High School players had prominent roles for the North all-star team in its 3-0 win on Friday over the South in the inaugural Fellowship of Christian Athletes All-Star Baseball Game at Foster Field in San Angelo.
James Clift won the Jerry Don Gleaton MVP award for his hitting and pitching contributions. His seventh-inning RBI single for the North broke up a scoreless tie and he also had a ninth-inning sacrifice fly. Also, Clift was the starting pitcher and he threw three innings, striking out three batters.
May earned the victory on the mound after coming in for Clift in the seventh inning. He was one of five North pitchers, who gave up just three hits to the South.
