Ex-SW star helps Saints beat Texans

NEW ORLEANS — For-mer Sweetwater High School and University of Texas-El Paso standout Joseph Banyard rushed for 25 yards on seven carries in the New Orleans Saints’ 34-27 exhibition win over the Houston Texans on Saturday night.
Banyard, who signed a three-year deal with the Saints in June as a rookie free agent, also caught one pass against Houston in his fourth exhibition game with New Orleans (2-2). Overall, he has rushed for 72 yards on 20 carries and has also caught five passes for 18 yards. The Saints play the Tennessee Titans on Thursday, then begin the regular season Sept. 9 by hosting the Wash-ington Redskins.
