Fire consumes 400 acres

Fisher County grass fire

A large grass fire in Fisher County burned about 400 acres on Monday afternoon according to authorities. Smoke filled the air in Sweetwater, due to yesterday's high winds. No residences were lost, but a number of barns and horse pens were lost due to the flames burning the tall, dry grass. Authorities say that there were two separate fires burning in the area and the cause of the fires in unknown. Some agencies assisting in the fire included Texas Forrest Service, Hamlin Volunteer Fire Department, Roby Volunteer Fire Department, Rotan Volunteer Fire Department, Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department, Snyder Volunteer Fire Department, Fisher County Works, Lake Sweetwater Volunteer Fire Department and Sweetwater Fire Department.
