First Financial Trust announces Wayne Chowning as new senior vice president

First Financial Trust & Asset Management Company, N.A. today announced the election of Douglas Wayne Chowning as a Senior Vice President. Chowning will office at First Financial Bank, N.A., Sweetwater, and will manage the Sweetwater trust office. He is succeeding Michael D. Sheehan, Executive Vice President, who will retire on Dec. 31, 2011. The announcement was made by Kirk W. Thaxton, CTFA, President and CEO of the Trust Company.
“We want to congratulate Mike on his retirement and welcome Wayne to our Sweetwater team,” Thaxton said. “Wayne brings a wealth of experience to our company and having been a Sweetwater resident since 1989, he is already familiar with many of our customers and with the community.”
Chowning had been a financial advisor in Sweetwater since 2001 and holds his Series 6, 63 and 65 licenses as a registered investment advisor. He has been active in the community having served as Sweetwater Jaycee treasurer, vice president, president and chairman of the board from 1992-1997; chairman of the World’s Largest Rattlesnake Round-Up in 1996; Leadership Sweetwater participant in 1994; Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce treasurer in 2007- 2008 and president elect in 2008-2009. Chowning is a member of the Sweetwater Rotary Club and serves as vice chairman of the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital board of trustees.
