A Firefighter's and First Responder's Appreciation Dinner and Silent Auction will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011 at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex starting at 6 p.m. It will be sponsored by the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce.
The event will serve two purposes: to honor all area firefighters and first responders for their tireless efforts in protecting the community and to raise funds for the groups as well.
"We are honoring all first responders in Nolan County with a complimentary dinner for them, their spouse and the children living at their home," said event coordinators.
Those being recognized at the dinner will be the Sweetwater Police Department, Nolan County Sheriff's Office, Roscoe Police Department, Sweetwater Fire Department, Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department (VFD), Maryneal VFD, Lake Sweetwater VFD, Blackwell VFD and the Nolan VFD.
The banquet committee is also asking local businesses to donate an item or gift certificate in their name to be used in the Silent Auction. "All donations will be acknowledged, with the name of the business in the program for this event."
The Chuck Wagon Gang will be providing steak dinners, while entertainment will be provided by the Sweetwater Municipal Bank. State Representative Susan King will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
