Former Sweetwater Reporter editor dies

Former Sweetwater Reporter editor, Donald A. Rogers from Grapevine, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the age of 79 years old due to a massive heart attack and stroke.
He was born Feb. 28, 1934.
He was preceded in death by his father Arlin, mother Lorene Rogers, sons Jeffrey Rogers and Gary Clark Rogers and sister Betty Rogers Moffat. He was the second child and first son of Arlin and Lorene Deaton Rogers of Ft. Worth. He and his brother, Charles were both ordained ministers. Rogers graduated from Grapevine High School at the age of 16, was a senior at Baylor University at the age of 19 and graduated from the Baptist Seminary at the age of 21. He retired from the Iron Workers Union local 263 in Ft. Worth and in his retirement years spent eight years as the editor of the Sweetwater Reporter. An accomplished novelist, he published two novels and was working on his third.
His two brothers, Dr. Charles R. Rogers and Jimmy L. Rogers are survivors of this family. Don is also survived by his eldest son, Randall Keith Rogers (wife Susan), and middle son Terry Donald Rogers (wife Monika); grandchildren Brandon, Jacob, Ryan, Carly, Chalee and Aaron; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Dr., Arlington, TX 76012 with Dr. Charles R. Rogers officiating. There will be no graveside services.
