The Fourth Annual "BBQ-ing in the Wind" Steak Cook Off will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19, in Roscoe during the West Texas Wind Festival. The event is sponsored by Fuller Food in Colorado City.
Events in the cook-off will consist of a 16 ounce rib-eye steak, pork spare ribs and chicken (or half a chicken). Meat inspection will start at 8 a.m., with a cooks' meeting to follow at 10 a.m.
The turn in times will begin at 3 p.m. for the chicken, 4 p.m. for the rib-eye steaks, and 5 p.m. for the ribs. The first place steak will receive a $1,500 prize.
Set up will start on Friday at 6 p.m. One camper and one vehicle with up to a 12' x 12' cover and up to two cooking pits in the cooking area are permitted. Only dry camper spaces are allowed.
Cooking fuel can consist of wood, gas or charcoal. Hookups and electricity are not allowed on the cooking site, but public electricity and a water station will be supplied.
The cost for all three events will be $120. To enter the steak category, participants must enter all three events. All proceeds from the cook-off will go to the Roscoe Fire Department.
