Francisca Alcala, age 87, of Sweetwater, passed away Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel, recited by Maria Acuña.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Rodriguez officiating followed by burial at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Francisca was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Nordheim, Texas. She married Silverio A. Alcala on Oct. 14, 1942, in San Angelo, Texas. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Silverio Alcala of Sweetwater; three sons, Noah Alcala and wife Eunice of New Braunfels; Steven Alcala and wife Ydalia of Sweetwater and Robert Alcala of Austin; three daughters, Christina Duran of Midland, Maggie Gabaldon of Sweetwater and Eliza Ornelas and husband Carlos of Odessa; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; one brother, Augustine Carrillo of San Antonio; and one sister, Manuela Carrillo of San Antonio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Paula Carrillo; two daughters, Anita Alcala and Emma Muñoz; and one son, Jacob Alcala.
Pallbearers will be Richard Duran, David Alcala, Ernest Muñoz, Steven Alcala, Jr., Carlos Ornelas, Jr. and Richard Stacy Galaz.
