Free diabetes event tomorrow at SNCHD

The Sweetwater-Nolan County Health Department (shown) will be the venue for the free Do Well, Be Well With Diabetes event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow, hosted by the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension office in Nolan County.

The Texas A&M Agrilife Extension office in Nolan County will host a free Do Well, Be Well With Diabetes event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Sweetwater-Nolan County Health Department. Before the activities begin, free blood glucose checks will be given from 8:30-9 a.m.
Local doctor Larry E. McEachern, M.D. will kick off the event with his program, "What is diabetes?"
Speakers will also include Ted Bayse, owner and pharmacist at The Medicine Place. He will explain medication. He will speak from 10:15-11 a.m.
Shelly Davis will teach about nutrition and will speak from 11:15 a.m. to noon.
A courtesy lunch will then be served to those in attendance and then Wes Stafford will continue with the speakers and tell why exercise is so important for diabetes. He will speak from 2-2:45 p.m.
Diabetic education and lunch will be free to participants. They will teach how to control glucose levels, about label reading and proper foods to purchase.
