Freezing weather descends upon our area

It wasn’t quite the white Christmas most had hoped for in the Sweetwater area, but Jack Frost visited a few days late. Freezing temperatures descended upon our area yesterday, turning Sweetwater into an icy and sometimes dangerous place to be.
There were more than thirty-five wrecks throughout Sweetwater before noon yesterday, most of them on I-20.
The icy conditions not only made for slow and hazardous driving along the Interstate but also in getting around on foot. Many sidewalks and side streets were iced over.
Temperatures were expected to be slightly higher, with mostly sunny skies, with a high near 46. Wind chill values between 18 and 28 early. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Temperatures are expected to fall back down into the low thirties tonight with partly cloudy skies, with a low around 30. Southeast wind around 5 mph.
