Freshman girls win; JV girls fall

The Sweetwater freshman girls basketball team, paced by Lauren Jones’ 18 points, beat Wichita Falls Hirschi’s freshman girls 28-16 here on Tuesday as they ran their early season record to 2-0.
Sweetwater led all the way, going up 10-6 after one quarter and extending its lead to 16-9 at halftime. The Lady Mustangs led 24-14 going into the fourth quarter.
Jennifer Medellin (four) and Sonya Sanchez, Davina Walker and Kaitlyn Foster (two each) also scored.
Kensi Chowning and Abby Garcia had five points, Jaya Atkins and Payton Moore three and Gabby Fuentes two for the JV girls basketball team (1-2), which was defeated in its game 44-18.
