Freshman, JV teams collect wins

Sweetwater’s freshman and JV volleyball teams won their matches against Levelland here Tuesday.
The freshman team (19-4) won 25-9, 25-16 while the JV squad won 25-9, 25-21.
For the freshman team, Kaitlyn Foster and Brittany Peeples both had four kills. Foster also had five service aces and five assists while Peeples had one assist, one ace and one dig. Also, Davina Walker had two kills, one ace, three assists and one dig; Natalie Valdez had three aces and one dig; Destiny Renteria had one kill and one dig; Annaliese Espinoza had two aces and two digs; and Rhylee Mene-ses had one ace and two digs.
Lauren Jones had six kills, Abby Garcia and Alyssa Soles four and Katie Fox two for the JV team.
Jones also had five assists and six digs; Garcia also had one ace, one assist and two digs; Soles also had four digs; Fox also had three digs and one ace; Sara Valdez had one ace, six assists and two digs; and Alyssa Villa-nueva, Marissa Moncada and Kristi Ward each had one dig.
7th grade spikers are 2nd at Lamesa
Sweetwaterl’s seventh grade Red volleyball team was second at Lamesa’s recent tournament. Sweet-water defeated Lamesa 25-13, 25-15 and Wellman 25-15, 25-9 before losing 18-25, 22-25 to Midland Christian in the title match.
