Two Nolan County varsi-ty girls basketball teams are off to 3-0 starts after winning again on Tuesday, as Sweetwater held off Wichita Falls Hirschi 40-32 on the road and Roscoe pulled away in the second half to defeat Robert Lee 30-19 at Roscoeâ€™s gym.
Also, Highland (2-1) defeated Aspermont 56-44 while Blackwell (0-1) lost to Hermleigh 65-43 in its sea-son opener on Tuesday.
Sweetwater trailed Hir-schi 9-8 after one quarter, but led 20-12 at halftime and was up by 10, 29-19, at the end of three periods.
Kendra Crosson paced Sweetwater with 15 points and Suede Shirley finished with 12, with two 3-pointers. Also scoring for Sweet-water were Shelby Cason with eight and Kelsi Cros-son with five.
Roscoe also heated up against Robert Lee after a slow start. The Plowgirls led just 6-5 after one quarter and 13-11 at halftime, but were up by eight (21-13) af-ter outscoring Robert Lee 8-2 in the third quarter en route to their victory.
Carolina Perez was Ros-coeâ€™s only double figure scorer with 11 points. Eva Aguayo had five, Faith Bor-en and Stina Tomlin four and Kendall Moses, Mirian Solis and Torrey Willman two apiece. Roscoe also won the JV girls game by defea-ting Robert Lee 36-13.
Highland, meanwhile, won for the second straight time after losing its opener to Sweetwater. The Lady Hornets jumped out to a 14-7 lead over Aspermont at the end of the first quarter, and led 28-20 at halftime and 43-32 heading into the fourth quarter.
Sierra Allen paced High-land with 21 points while Beth Richburg had 13, Hannah Allen eight, Sydney Helbert, Madison Moseley and Lora Stewart four and Schyler Kimbrell two. The JV girls (0-3) lost to Aspermont 28-17.
Blackwell got 17 points from Stephanie Metcalf, 10 from Hailey Bennett, seven from Elizabeth Rozzlle, four from Bailey McGlothlin, three from Leonor Castelo and two points from Bethany Breaux in its opener.
