Gloria J. Pool, age 82, of Sweetwater, TX, passed away May 31, 2011. She was born Oct. 15, 1928, in Blackwell, TX to O.A. and Ladonia Johnson. She was a lifelong homemaker, devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She enjoyed arts and crafts sewing and bingo. She was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Ladies Auxillary. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
She is survived by her five daughters, Pam Daniels and husband Marlin of Sweetwater, TX, Sandy Womble and husband John of Maryneal, TX, Freida Looby and husband Mike of Georgetown, TX, Susan Chupp and husband Steve of Argyle, TX and Christine VanDever and husband John (Scissors) of League City, TX; her grandchildren, Britnee Daniel, Josh Womble, Brent Looby, Brian and Julie Chupp and John VanDever III, and seven great-grandchildren; a brother Ray Johnson and his wife Glenna of Lubbock, TX.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Alfred Pool; her parents; three brothers; and one sister.
Special thanks to Dr. Luther Martin, Hospice of the Big Country and the loving care of the nursing staff at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sweetwater under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be special friends of the family, Misty Escobedo, Lori Salinas, Debra Corley, Renea Corley and Shellie Chance.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at McCoy Funeral Home.
