Golfers 8th at B-Spring

Sweetwater boys golf team

The Sweetwater High School boys golf team shot a two-day total of 683 to place eighth out of 21 teams at the Big Spring Invitational tournament last weekend.
Individually, Ryan Mercer shot 75-75-150 for a sixth-place medalist finish. As a team, Sweetwater shot 344 on Friday and 339 on Sat-urday. Big Spring won the team title (622) followed by Abilene Cooper (632), Snyder (639), Wylie (640), Plainview (647), San Angelo Central (674), Midland Lee (682) and Sweetwater.
Sweetwater’s other team scores came from Mason Andrews (87-84-171), Jace Bentle (89-91-180) and Dylan Torres (93-90-183). Joey Adames played as a medalist and shot 101-99-200. Sweetwater’s JV boys team will play on Feb. 23 at Lamesa’s tournament and the varsity team will see action again on Feb. 24 at Brownwood’s tournament.
