Gomez announced as new Laboratory Director

Shown are Walter Best and Eddie Gomez. Gomez was promoted to Director of Laboratory at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital, replacing Best, who has chosen to step down from the director position and will continue in the lab as Chief Tech.

Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the promotion of Eddie Gomez to Director of Laboratory.
Gomez will be replacing Walter Best who has been the Laboratory Director since 2009 and has chosen to step down from the director position and will continue in the lab as Chief Tech.
Gomez is a 1988 graduate of Sweetwater High School and graduated from Angelo State University in 1992 with a degree in Medical Technology and Chemistry. He worked at RPMH previously as a Med. Tech. from 1992 to 2001 and has most recently been working for Community Health System facilities.
"We are excited to have one of our own, a hometown boy come to back to Sweetwater to be on our team here at RPMH," stated Donna Boatright, Administrator. "He is familiar with our hospital and the high standard of care we provide and I believe the transition will be smooth. We are also extremely fortunate to have Walter stay on with us in the Lab. He is an extremely important part of our Laboratory team and his experience and knowledge is valued," Boatright continued.
Gomez is the son of Edward and the late Nellie Gomez. Nellie, Eddie's mother, was a Registered Nurse at RPMH from 1993 to 2002. He has four children, Whitney, Drake, Darek and Max. Gomez's interest outside of work and with his children are golf, fishing and raising and riding horses.
