Over the next few years, millions of dollars in contracts will be awarded by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
The Lubbock district office with the U.S. SBA will be holding a Government Contracting Basics workshop to help those interested find out how to sign up and gain access to these contracting jobs. The workshop will take place in Abilene on two upcoming dates.
Josie Salinas, a Business Development Specialist with the Lubbock office, offered some insight into the workshops. She stated that their goal is to connect various companies together to do business with each other. For this workshop, they plan to partner businesses with Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene.
Interested company applicants will fill out certain certification forms, with a representative from Dyess on hand to assist in showing how to sign up for the financial aid.
Computers will be available at the workshop site. While some applicants may have to complete their sign-up process outside of the meeting, they will be shown how to get started, where to go and what to do throughout the process.
The meeting will be held at the Texas Tech Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Abilene, located at 500 Chestnut, Suite 601. The first meeting will take place on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011.
On Thursday, March 3, 2011, the second meeting will be held with two sessions offered. The first session will take place starting at 8 a.m. and lasting until noon. A repeat session will begin at 1 p.m. and continue until 4 p.m.
Those interested are asked to bring a Tax ID number, their DUNS number, contact information and an e-mail address.
