Local sports roundup

All three Nolan County high school football teams in action today have tough road assignments as non-district play continues.
Roscoe, meanwhile, has the weekend off as the Plowboys prepare for their district opener on Sept. 28 at Baird.
Sweetwater (2-1) travels to Wall (2-1) for its third Class 3A vs. 2A matchup of the young season.
The Mustangs are facing a Wall team that dominated Sonora 47-13 last Friday and began the season state-ranked. Sweetwater defea-ted Breckenridge 33-14 last week as the team kicked off three weeks of games away from Mustang Bowl prior to the start of district play.
Highland (1-2) goes to Sands (2-1) today trying to stay on a roll following a 46-44 victory over Loraine last week. The Hornets gave coach Jeff Shelton his first win of the year on Michael Hyde’s 16-yard touchdown and his two-point PAT kick which came with 39 seconds left, climaxing a game in which he ran for 173 yards with four TDs.
Blackwell (2-1) is at Trent (3-0) today, and head coach Clint Lowry’s Hornets will also be coming in with a positive frame of mind after dominating Brookesmith 50-0 for their second win.

Lady Mustangs open district here Saturday by hosting Monahans
