Graveside services for Harry Lee Hartgraves, 71, of Abilene, formerly of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sweetwater. Reverend Chris Stephens will officiate and interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Hartgraves died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Care Inn of Abilene.
He was born Oct. 27, 1942, in Sweetwater. Harry was a graduate of Newman High School and had attended El Centro College in Dallas, was a graduate of TSTC with an Associates Degree in Robotics and worked in the Hartgraves Family Tire Business for many years. He had also worked for Collins Instrument Company as a radio technician helping to develop radio communications for the Apollo space program. Harry was raised in the Highland Heights United Methodist Church and was a United States Army veteran.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna Huffstutler and husband Jerry of Longview, TX; brothers, Bobby Hartgraves and wife Wanda of Denver, CO and Jimmy Hartgraves and wife Linda Lou of Lewisville, TX; sister, Diane Brazelton and husband Clayton of Giddings, TX; life-long companion, Wanda Hartgraves of Abilene, TX; grandchildren, Cassie and husband Drew, Shelby and Sydney; and great-grandson, Hunter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ennis B. Hartgraves on Oct. 18, 1986; mother, Opal May Hartgraves on Sept. 3, 2000; and sister, Patty Epperson in 2008.
