AMARILLO, Texas, â€” Hastings Entertainment, Inc., a leading multimedia entertainment retailer with 145 stores in 20 states has announced the closing of its 1102 East Broadway location in Sweetwater on Aug. 20, 2011. The store will be conducting a going out of business sale through Aug. 20, 2011.
The Sweetwater, Texas location is closing due to store operating profit being less than that required by management. This location employs approximately 35 full and part-time associates. All gift cards can be redeemed at www.gohastings.com.
The local Hastings store had undergone recent renovations in February of this year with the removal of the coffee area. It had been converted it into a larger magazine selection, making it the largest in town. The video game area had also been changed with TV screens for each game system to be tested with different games. The local Hastings store has also hosted many artists over the years including musicians such as Lisa Loeb, The Casey Donahew Band and the Josh Abbott Band and many authors hosting book signings as well.
The Hastings store in Plainview will also be closing its doors.
