Graveside services for Herman Ray Williams, 77, of Sweetwater will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Sweetwater Cemetery. Reverend Jimmy Don Bennett will officiate and interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Williams died Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born February 26, 1936 in Brady, Texas. He married Glenda Faye Williams on June 14, 1959 in Hamlin, Texas.
Herman was a graduate of McCaulley High School and moved to Sweetwater in 1960. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had served during the Korean War. Herman was a truck driver working for National Gypsum Co., USG, Tribble Advertising Co., Longhorn Portland Cement Co. as an electrician, Sweetwater Cotton Oil Mill for six years, Pace Packing Co., and then Ennis Trucking for 36 years until his retirement. He had also worked in the oil field in Brownwood and Brooksmith, Texas.
Survivors include his son, Stephen Williams of Sweetwater; daughter, Sandi Martin and husband Mike of Arlington; sister, Edna Hughes of Shreveport, Louisiana; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife on October 26, 2004; his daughter, Janet Roland on July 23, 2012; his parents, Welton and Eunice Williams; and his brother, J.L. Williams.
Pallbearers are Chayne Roland, Mike Martin, Cory Huggins, Brandon Hines, Gary Roland, Larry Roland, and Charlie Roland, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Herman Winslett, Royce Dent, and Justin Roland.
