Highland, Blackwell set stage for 7-1A, D-II showdown

There will be an all-Nolan County showdown between Highland and Blackwell for the District 7-1A, Division II championship at Highland this Thursday.
Both teams are 2-0 after posting lopsided wins this past week.
Blackwell 59, Trent 0
Blackwell now has a 9-0 record after Thursday’s win in its final home game.
Ahead 51-0 after the first quarter, Blackwell closed it out at halftime by six-man football’s 45-point mercy rule against Trent (0-9).
Blackwell threw just one pass, but Michael Lowry hit Orrin Sirmons for a 42-yard touchdown.
Five players ran for TDs — Brandon Brinkman (33 yards), Hunter Clark (55 yards), Peyton Hinckley (25 yards), Jimmie Lewis (1 yard) and Brenden Scott (18 yards). Blackwell also scored TDs on special teams — Cameron Coldiron took the opening kickoff 50 yards for a score — and defense – Nathaniel Shipman picked up a fumble in the end zone.
Kyler Walls (four) and Jaydon Taylor (one) kicked PATs, and Lowry threw a one-point PAT to Coldiron.
Shipman also had six tackles and Jared McMurtrey recovered an onside kick.
Highland 50, Loraine 0
In a Friday contest, Highland (7-2) led 32-0 after the first quarter and closed things out with an 18-0 run in the second, ending with Nolan Montgomery’s interception return with :00 left on the first half clock.
Montgomery also threw for two TDs and Eli Sauer had four TD runs that went 13, 20, 4 and 44 yards. Baily Garrett (42 yards) and Dylan Phillips (one yard) caught TD passes thrown by Montgomery, who also had two catches for 76 yards. Sauer ran for 141 yards.
Dakota Bowen had six solo tackles and three assists, and Hayden Adams had four tackles and three assists. Richard Fomby had four successful PAT kicks.
