Highland boys back in playoffs

Highland’s boys are back in the playoffs from District 13-1A, Division II after their 75-31 win over Hermleigh. Jacob Richburg scored 25 points to pace the Hornets (6-2 district, 13-7 overall). Highland remained in second place with Tuesday’s win. It is one game ahead of third-place Roscoe (5-3), which edged Loraine 56-52 in its 13-1A, Division II game Tuesday.
Roscoe, which needs one more win for a playoff spot, was paced by Cutter Davila’s 19 points and Jesus Leanos’ 16.
Highland’s girls, already in the playoffs as 13-1A, Division II champion, won 80-12 over Hermleigh. Sier-ra Allen led the way with 25 points for the Lady Hornets (10-0 in district, 26-2 overall), who won their second straight District 13-1A, Div-ision II title.
The Roscoe girls (7-3) got a forfeit win over Loraine, which is playing just a JV schedule this season. But they did play on Tuesday as they defeated the Abilene Hawks, 44-22. Sam Ortega had 13 points and Selena Perez 10 to pace the win.
